To introduce myself, I am an American academic and senior consulting curator for the Freud Museum in London. In this capacity, I am planning a major exhibit called Freud/Tiffany - 'The Best Possible School'. Fritz Redl, a faculty member at Wayne State's School of Social Work, who had been a student of August Aichhorn's in Vienna, later modeled Pioneer House in Detroit on Aichhorn's residential treatment facilities for adolescents. And in Vienna of the late 1920s, Aichhorn taught at Anna Freud’s small progressive school.

Several years ago, I spoke with you or one of your colleagues about the Fritz Redl papers in your library's archival collections. I was intrigued but unfortunately never visited. However, I am now attempting to locate all available documentation about the Hietzing School, as it was called, and its teachers including Dr. Aichhorn. Do you have a finding aid for the Redl papers? Would you or a staff member be able to help me locate relevant correspondence, memoirs, photographs or newspaper clippings? I ask these questions because I now live in Europe, and though I am planning a November research trip to the US, I want to lay as much groundwork as I can electronically. It is understood that I will pay for all costs you may incur for scans, photocopies or postage.
